Dec. 20, 2022 — Carlos Duran, a senior at Southern Virginia University majoring in mathematics and minoring in Spanish, recently had his second Spanish poem, “Mi Sentimiento,” published in Pluma, a Spanish-language literary magazine run by Washington & Lee University and the first of its kind for the Shenandoah Valley.

Nov. 9, 2022 — Buena Vista, Va.—Southern Virginia University is pleased to announce that its status as an Apple Distinguished School has been renewed through 2025. Nov. 7, 2022 — Southern Virginia University and Alumni Association President Scott McKeon (‘01) are pleased to announce the inaugural officers of its recently launched Alumni Association. The four appointed vice presidents are Jessica Rasmussen (‘17), Derrick Maggard (‘10), JD Drasbek (‘16), and Paul Candland (‘22). Additionally, Megan Ondricek (‘09) will serve as secretary and Brigham Doxey (‘17) will serve as treasurer.
