Sybrowskys to Speak at Devotional Sept. 13

Southern Virginia University President Paul K. Sybrowsky and his wife, Lynne, will give devotional addresses on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 at 11. a.m. in the Stoddard Center.

President Sybrowsky has served as Southern Virginia’s president since June 2012. Prior to that, he was a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 2005 to 2011. His duties included presiding over the Australia Area of the Church and serving as assistant executive director in the Church History and Audiovisual Departments. He served a full-time mission in Canada, and later served as mission president of the Church’s Canada Toronto West Mission. He has also served as a bishop and stake president for the Church.

President Sybrowsky has served on the boards or leadership councils of three universities, and as a commissioner of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. He attended the Church College of Hawaii and received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Brigham Young University in 1968.

Outside of his church and educational service, he co-founded Dynix, Inc., which went on to become a leading library services corporation. As CEO of Dynix, he was recognized as Utah’s Small Businessman of the Year, and Utah’s Entrepreneur of the Year in the field of technology.

Additionally, he has served in the United States Army Reserves and in the Utah Air National Guard.

President Sybrowsky met his wife, Lynne, at BYU. Lynne Sybrowsky was born in London, England, and raised in Montreal, Canada. The Sybrowskys have been married since 1968 and have nine children and 27 grandchildren.

Community members and Southern Virginia faculty, staff and students are invited to hear forum and devotional speakers each Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Center. Recordings of past forum and devotional speeches may be accessed online.
