Southern Virginia University to Offer Expedited Admission to Valley Forge University Students

Buena Vista, VA— Southern Virginia University and its community offer their empathy and support to the students, faculty, and staff at Valley Forge University at the unfortunate news of the university’s suspension of academic operations.

“We are deeply saddened to see the Valley Forge University community face this unexpected transition,” said Southern Virginia University President Aaron Hale. “We recognize the uncertainty this creates for students and their families, and we want them to know they are not alone. As a Christ-centered liberal arts university, Southern Virginia University would be honored to welcome students from Valley Forge and help them continue pursuing their educational goals in a community where they can continue to learn, grow, and thrive.”

In order to provide support to VFU students during this uncertain time, Southern Virginia University would like to offer the following assistance for the 2026-27 academic year:

Expedited Admissions Process. All VFU students will receive one-on-one support from a Southern Virginia University admissions counselor, a waived registration deposit, and quick transfer evaluations. Additionally, the registrar will conduct a proactive course match to ensure students can retain as many of their credits as possible and stay on track for graduation.

VFU Discount-rate Match. In addition to already offering tuition at a lower cost, Southern Virginia University will match the current discount rate a VFU student would have received for the 2026-27 academic year.

Roster Spots for Valley Forge University Student-Athletes. Athletic Director Josh Monsen will work personally with current VFU students to place qualified athletes with one of Southern Virginia University’s corresponding athletic programs.

Southern Virginia University is a private, self-reliant, residential university aligned with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its principles and values. Its mission is to gather faithful Latter-day Saints and like-minded students, lift them in intellect, character, and spirituality, and launch them into successful lives and careers.

“We have key similarities with Valley Forge as a faith-based institution with small class sizes and a Christ-centered campus community,” said Director of Admissions Brant Brown. “In the spirit of loving our neighbor, I want VFU students to know that we’ll do everything we can to streamline the admissions process and welcome them with open arms as they seek admission this fall.”
