Sheri Dew, Executive VP of Deseret Management Corporation, to Speak at Commencement May 9

Sheri Dew, the executive vice president and chief content officer of Deseret Management Corporation, will address Southern Virginia University graduates, faculty, staff, students, and friends at Commencement, honoring the Class of 2025, at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2024.

Dew joined Deseret Book in 1988 as an associate editor and became director of publishing in 1989, vice president of publishing in 1993, and executive vice president in 2000. She was named the president and CEO of the company in 2002.  She also served as an assistant editor at Bookcraft and spent six years as an editor and associate publisher at This People magazine. 

She served in the General Presidency of the Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1997 to 2002 and was a White House delegate to the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations.  

An inspirational speaker, Dew has also authored several books, including “Women and the Priesthood: What One Latter-Day Saint Woman Believes,” and the biographies of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints prophets Ezra Taft Benson and Gordon B. Hinckley, and Russell M. Nelson. Dew currently serves on the national Advisory Council of BYU’s Marriott School of Management. Dew is a native of Ulysses, Kansas, and a graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in history with an emphasis on American religious history.
