2022 Commencement Exercises to be Held on May 6

Yesterday, the Office of the Provost issued the following letter.*

Dear Class of 2022,

Commencement for the Class of 2022 is quickly approaching, and we want to encourage all of you potential graduates to keep pushing towards completion of your degree. In anticipation of this year’s Commencement ceremony, we would like to announce that we have changed the date of Commencement to Friday, May 6, at 11:00 a.m. Please note that we very recently made that change to accommodate some calendaring concerns in the last week of the semester and the week before our Summer Block classes begin.

As many of you remember, our Class of 2020 was not able to walk in a traditional Commencement ceremony outside of Main Hall because of the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. These special graduates missed out on an important part of the Southern Virginia University experience, and so we have invited members of the Class of 2020 to join us in celebration that day. This will be a unique and historic Commencement in which we honor two distinct graduate classes. We look forward to this special experience and this special day.

To summarize, we are officially inviting members of the Class of 2022 and the Class of 2020 for a joint Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. This will be a very special event and an important milestone for the University, and we look forward to celebrating with you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we move towards graduation together. And as always, Go Knights!

Sincerely,

Dr. James Lambert
