Award-winning speaker Al Fox Carraway will give this year’s Honor Forum address on Friday, Jan. 29, at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Center at Southern Virginia University.

Carraway is a blogger, speaker and author. She is most well known for her blog post, “Tattooed Mormon.” She began telling her story of conversion and acceptance four years ago and has since shared her message with thousands through firesides, blogging and social media. She has also been featured by Deseret News and LDS Living.

Carraway joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints six years ago and moved to Utah soon after. There, she learned to “choose God” despite the troubles she faced as an outsider. These experiences prompted her to encourage others to choose God in the face of adversity as well. Her book, “More Than a Tattooed Mormon” was released in November 2015.

She was born and raised in New York before moving to Utah. There, she met and married her husband, Ben. The two now live in Arizona and are expecting their second child. Carraway recently accepted a job in marketing with the Church and will move back to Utah in the coming weeks.

Community members and Southern Virginia faculty, staff and students are invited to hear forum and devotional speakers each Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Center. Recordings of past forum and devotional speeches may be accessed online.
