Southern Virginia to Hold Good Friday Devotional April 3

Southern Virginia University will hold a special Good Friday devotional on Friday, April 3, at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Center at Southern Virginia.

The program will feature remarks on the Easter season from a variety of Christian faiths including Martin Luther’s proclamation, Pope Francis’ homily and Joseph Smith’s testimony of Christ, among others. The remarks will be read by Southern Virginia faculty and staff including Dr. Jan-Erik Jones, Dr. Francis MacDonnell, Dr. Beth Schramm, Professor Mark Milberger, Dr. Christopher Richardson and Dr. Karen Walker.

There will also be a special choral musical number composed and conducted by Patrick Summers (’15) and performed by fellow students as well as a viewing of a video produced by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in honor of the Easter holiday.

Community members and Southern Virginia faculty, staff and students are invited to hear forum and devotional speakers each Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Center. Recordings of past forum and devotional speeches may be accessed online.
