D.C. Circuit Judge to Speak at Devotional March 27
The Honorable Thomas B. Griffith, Circuit Judge, United States Court of Appeals for the D. C. Circuit, will give a devotional address on Friday, March 27, at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Center at Southern Virginia University.
Griffith has been a member of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit since he was appointed by former President George W. Bush in 2002.
Prior to his work as a circuit judge, Griffith worked as a partner at a major law firm in Washington and served as Senate Legal Counsel, the chief legal officer of the United States Senate. He has also worked as assistant to the president and general counsel of Brigham Young University and teaches at Stanford Law School. While working at Brigham Young University, he led a number of religious colleges and universities in their efforts to maintain their place in America’s higher education system
Griffith studied at Brigham Young University and the University of Virginia School of Law. Following his studies, he was employed by the Church Educational System and directed seminary and institute programs in Baltimore. He currently teaches early morning seminary and institute classes and works with Terryl Givens and Richard Bushman as the head of the Temple Observatory Group.
He and his wife, Susan Griffith, a professional genealogist, have six children and eight grandchildren. The Griffiths live in Round Hill, Va.
