Virginia Lieutenant Governor to Speak at Forum Oct. 25

Virginia Lieutenant Governor William T. Bolling will give a forum address titled “Painting the Picture of your Life” on Friday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Center at Southern Virginia University.

Bolling has been elected twice to the position of lieutenant governor and is the first lieutenant governor in Virginia to serve two consecutive terms since the 1990s. He also currently serves as the chief jobs creation officer in Governor Bob McDonnell’s cabinet.

During his service as lieutenant governor, Bolling has led initiatives to establish multiple programs to encourage healthy lifestyles, as well as to create jobs, and increase usage of solar and wind energy

He previously has served as a member of the Senate of Virginia and as chairman of the Joint Republican Caucus, the Virginia Republican Senatorial Committee, the Senate sub-committee on health care, the Commission on the Future of Virginia’s Environment, the Chesapeake Bay Commission and the Hanover County Board of Supervisors.

Bolling received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Charleston in 1978.

Community members and Southern Virginia faculty, staff and students are invited to hear forum and devotional speakers each Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Center. Recordings of past forum and devotional speeches may be accessed online.
