Sybrowskys to Speak at Devotional Sept. 14
President Paul K. Sybrowsky, who served in the Second Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 2005 to 2011, and his wife, Lynne, will give devotional addresses on Friday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Center at Southern Virginia University.
After serving as a general authority for the Church — which included presiding over the Australia Area of the Church and serving as assistant executive director in the Church History and Audiovisual Departments — Sybrowsky became president of Southern Virginia on June 1, 2012.
President Sybrowsky has served on the boards or leadership councils of three universities, and as a commissioner of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
Professionally, he co-founded and served as president of Dynix, Inc., which went on to become one of the world’s leading library services corporations. He was named Utah’s Small Businessman of the Year, and Utah’s Entrepreneur of the Year in the field of technology.
President Sybrowsky has held numerous leadership positions within the Church, including service as president of the Canada Toronto West Mission, as a stake president, and as a bishop.
Prior to serving his first full-time mission in Canada, President Sybrowsky studied at the Church College of Hawaii. Following his mission, he received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Brigham Young University in 1968.
Additionally, he has served in the United States Army Reserves and in the Utah Air National Guard.
Lynne Sybrowsky was born in London, England, and raised in Montreal, Canada, and attended BYU — where she and her husband went on their first date. The Sybrowskys have been married since 1968 and have nine children and 22 grandchildren.
Community members and Southern Virginia faculty, staff and students are invited to hear forum and devotional speakers each Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Center. Recordings of past forum and devotional speeches may be accessed online.
