Education Administrator to Speak at Devotional Sept. 17
Jeffery M. Tanner, vice president of the National Student Clearinghouse, will give a devotional address entitled “Puzzling Decisions in Life” at Southern Virginia University Friday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Center.
As the vice president of education association relations, Tanner cultivates and builds the Clearinghouse’s relationship with the many educational associations, foundations and organizations with which it works. He has also led the team that worked with registrars, financial aid directors, directors of admission, institutional researchers and other academic administration professionals to provide improved student record management to the education community. He was also a founding member of its board of directors.
Prior to joining the Clearinghouse, Tanner was associate dean of admissions and records at Brigham Young University. He also served as president of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, a leading international higher education association.
Additionally, Tanner served on the board of directors for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). He has consulted with colleges and universities throughout the world, including King Abdulaziz University in Saudia Arabia, Arizona State University, the University of Jordan, Ohio State University and San Francisco State University. He is a frequent speaker at higher education conferences.
Tanner has a doctorate in higher education administration from Brigham Young University, as well as a master’s degree in public administration.
