D.C. Attorney, Stake President to Give Devotional Feb. 26

Scott M. Wheatley, a highly regarded attorney and a stake president, will speak at a Southern Virginia University devotional, Friday Feb. 26, at 11 a.m.

Wheatley received a bachelor’s degree in comparative literature from Brigham Young University, and a law degree from George Washington University. Wheatley was admitted to the Virginia Bar in 1978. For more than 30 years, his law practice has centered on residential, commercial and recreational real estate matters. He also currently serves as the chairman of the Powhatan District of the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

He is the president of the Oakton Virginia Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has previously served in the Church as a counselor in the stake presidency, bishop, high councilor and as a stake and ward Young Men’s president.

Community members and Southern Virginia faculty, staff and students are invited to hear forum and devotional speakers each Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Center. Recordings of past forum and devotional speeches may be accessed online.
