Church’s New York Public and International Affairs Director to Speak at Forum
Ahmad Corbitt, the director of the New York Office of Public and International Affairs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will give a forum address entitled “‘That They Might Come to Understanding’: How Communications Relates to the Gospel of Christ” at Southern Virginia University Friday, January 15, at 11 a.m.
He and his colleagues regularly represent the Church at United Nations events, in meetings with UN diplomats and other foreign dignitaries and at other international activities and events. He has similar responsibilities with national, regional and local events and dignitaries. A Church spokesperson, Corbitt also interacts with the media on behalf of the Church.
Previously Corbitt served as a successful trial and appellate lawyer. He honorably completed a four-year appointment by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a member of the New Jersey (District IV) Ethics Committee, which oversaw ethics complaints against lawyers.
Corbitt represents the Church on the Board of the National Interfaith Cable Coalition and as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Bible Association. He is a member of the President’s Advancement Council at Brigham Young University-Idaho, and the National Advisory Councils of the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University and Southern Virginia University.
Corbitt and his wife, Jayne, have six children and four grandchildren. He is currently president of the Cherry Hill New Jersey Stake of the Church.
