Annual Service Fair Friday Oct. 2

Southern Virginia University will hold its annual service fair on Friday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m. in the Stoddard Center.

The service fair provides a venue for students to find out what service opportunities are available in the area by meeting representatives from community organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Maury River Senior Center and Buena Vista schools.

Before students browse the booths and visit with the community organizations, Parker Bird, a senior from New Albany, Ohio, will speak briefly about his experience on a medical service trip to Ecuador last summer. Southern Virginia’s student support director, Michael Gibbons, will also share a short overview of service events and projects the university community has accomplished during the past year.

Local community members and Southern Virginia faculty, staff and students are all welcome to explore the service needs in the Rockbridge County area by joining us at the Stoddard Center this Friday.

Representatives from the following organizations will be among those at the fair.
