SVU Hires Chief Operations and Systems Officer

Southern Virginia University President Rodney K. Smith announced the appointment of Scott Y. Doxey as chief operations and systems officer.

“Scott brings with him a wealth of experience increasing efficiency and effectiveness in businesses and, most recently, at a successful for-profit university,” said President Smith. “His broad background in technology, business and education will prove immensely helpful as we continue to grow the size of our student body.”

Doxey brings more than 20 years of business and leadership experience and holds an M.S. in business information systems and education and a B.A. in administrative systems from Utah State University. He most recently was vice- president of academic affairs and operations for Neumont University in Salt Lake City, Ut., where he was instrumental in establishing procedures in the start-up school including integrating computer systems to help streamline processes. He also helped lead Neumont through accreditation and regulatory processes. He also has provided technical consulting with companies in the U.S. and South America. He also was co-owner of a computer training franchise, Productivity Point International, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Seattle, Washington, and eventually sold the company.

Doxey will begin immediately to help Southern Virginia University refine its information systems, working with departments across campus to assess needs and implement solutions. He also will serve as a member of the President’s Council.

“We have accomplished much at Southern Virginia in the last 12 years,” said President Smith. “Scott will help us further refine how we do things and help us establish more efficient processes and better provide excellent educational opportunities and services for our students.”
